Recipe Review: No Honey Mustard

#sponsored

My favorite food is a condiment. Can a condiment BE a favorite food? I don’t know the official parameters, but I’ve been known to order specific dishes at a restaurant so I can try their honey mustard dressing/sauce. Yea, honey mustard is my FAV FOOD.

My brother used to say if you pricked my skin to make me bleed, honey mustard would come out. *shrug*

Living with diabetes and loving honey mustard is complicated since it has one of the highest carb counts in the dressing world, with one of my favorites coming in at 14g of carbs for 2oz. Ack! JUST FOR THE DRESSING!

What’s a honey-mustard-loving girl to do?

I’m a big believer in eating your favorite foods in moderation, but I’m also a believer in making swaps at home that make sense for you and your numbers and your overall wellness. That’s why I was SO EXCITED to try this No Honey Mustard dressing made with Splenda Monk Fruit sweetener.

I’ll be honest-I was skeptical. I seriously have a ranking of restaurants in my head based on their honey mustard, so this is serious business, and this recipe had a lot to live up to.

First, let’s talk prep time…this recipe came together in minutes. All you have to do is measure out the ingredients and stir them together. *win* No blender. No big mess. Nothing complicated. Just my kind of recipe 😉

I whipped it up in 5 minutes or less and stuck it in the fridge for the next day.

Here’s what you need:

½ cup plain Greek yogurt

5 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

3 tablespoons Splenda® Monk Fruit Granulated Sweetener

2 tablespoons yellow mustard

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

2 tablespoons raw apple cider vinegar

1 clove garlic, grated

¼ teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon kosher salt

Just mix all ingredients together and voila!

This No Honey Mustard is good for dipping or as a dressing, and you can feel good about it because it only has 4g of carb per 2T serving and 60 calories!

I made this pretty salad with romaine, tomato, cucumber, avocado, cheese, bacon bits, and a scoop of tuna and drizzled the dressing on top.

Two thumbs up from this honey mustard lover! (and it got two thumbs up from the hubby too!)
